The Screw press turns household waste into valuable biogas
ALLRECO has successfully commissioned a machine forDordtech. The Dutch plant manufacturer has installed a recycling plant forhousehold waste in the Slovakian town of Hincovce. In addition to pre-shreddingand various screening technologies, the core of the plant is the solid-liquidseparation and pressing of the biogenic fraction from the pre-treated householdwaste. The background to this is that the liquid phase is to be used for biogasproduction.
Once again, the stationary screw press "DSP 205" from ALLRECOwas able to demonstrate its advantages in this environment and impress acrossthe board. The press, which consists of two main elements, the mixing hopperand the pressing unit, offers the advantage that films and plastics passthrough the unit without further shredding. This offers the great advantagethat the liquid phase is virtually free of plastic impurities, which in turn isvery important for biogas production in a fermenter and the subsequentutilization of the fermentation product.
If fermentation does not take place onsite and the fermentable fraction has to be transported over a longer distance,no process water is added. For on-site fermentation, to ensure betterpumpability of the liquid phase and better drainage in the press, process wateror liquid waste materials are mixed into the mixing hopper of the machine.
